Cookies Policy
Last updated: June 19, 2026
This policy explains how ResumeCrafter uses cookies and similar technologies, including browser local storage, and the choices available to you.
1. What cookies are
Cookies are small text files placed on your device by your browser. "Local storage" is a related browser technology that lets a website save data on your device, with no expiration date until it's cleared. We use both, for different purposes described below.
2. How we use local storage
ResumeCrafter uses your browser's local storage (not cookies) to save your in-progress resume — your contact details, education, work history, skills, and summary — as you fill out the builder. This is what allows you to leave the page and come back without losing your work. This data:
- Stays on your device and is not automatically sent to our servers
- Is specific to the browser and device you used to enter it
- Persists until you clear it, or your browser clears it for you
We also use local storage to remember whether you've purchased the watermark-removal unlock, so we don't ask you to pay twice on the same device.
3. Cookies we use
| Cookie / technology | Purpose | Set by |
|---|---|---|
| Google Analytics (_ga, _gid, and related) | Measures site usage — page views, button clicks — so we can understand and improve the product. | |
| Stripe checkout cookies | Set only if you start a payment, used to securely process your transaction and prevent fraud. | Stripe |
4. Why we use these technologies
- Functionality: Local storage is what makes the step-by-step builder usable — without it, your progress would be lost every time you reloaded the page.
- Analytics: Cookies from Google Analytics help us see which steps in the builder cause people to drop off, so we can improve them.
- Payments: Stripe's cookies are required for it to process your card payment securely; we don't control how Stripe's checkout page uses cookies.
5. Managing cookies and local storage
You can control or delete cookies and local storage through your browser settings. Most browsers let you:
- View and delete stored cookies and site data
- Block cookies from specific sites or all sites
- Browse in a private/incognito window, which clears local storage when the window closes
Note that clearing local storage for ResumeCrafter will erase any unsaved resume draft on that device. Blocking analytics cookies will not affect your ability to use the builder or download your resume.
6. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as our use of cookies and storage changes. We'll update the "Last updated" date above when we do.
